TRADITIONALLY the last panto of the 2004/05 season, this entertaining version of Cinderella was written for CATS by a former member.
Little time was wasted with no unnecessary overture and action from curtain-up. All newcomers, including the director, received a mention in the programme.
Dominic Bailey as Buttons continued to excel with his laconic comedic style. Laid-back but fun, from his opening scene until the final curtain, sharing many funny moments with Watt Adin and Floss and Fluff among others.
In a new twist the young chorus comprised a female group, (ostensibly learning to cook under Mrs Pastry) and a predominantly male group of Italian black suits led by Fairy Godfather Mike Bailey, maintaining both style and accent well.
They also provided the backing for Razzle Dazzle, a gutsy number by the Fairy Godmother (Penny Cannons).
Tonight and tomorrow as well.
