Justin Rose was still fighting the demons when the Bay Hill Invitational got off to a stormy start last night.
The Hampshire golfer, who has struggled for consistency so far this year, bogeyed the second and dropped two more shots in his front nine.
His only bright spot was a birdie two at the short seventh but Rose was two over after 11 holes and down in 41st place when bad weather drove the players off the course.
Meanwhile, Southampton-based Richard Bland and Matt Blackey were all at sea in China after round one of the TCL Classic at Yalong Bay.
On a day when 96 golfers beat par, Bland at one over and Blackey at level were stranded at the back of the field.
Stoneham tournament professional Bland had a real roller-coaster ride, mixing up six birdies with seven bogies for a 73.
Blackey, flying the Hayling flag this summer, had a quieter time, picking up two shots but giving them both back.
Paul Casey led the field at eight under with the favourite Colin Montomerie three behind.
