TROJANS are eyeing a unique treble - in the Hampshire/Surrey Regional League, EHA Harrod Trophy and Hampshire Knockout Cup.

On the brink of clinching the championship, they are through to the semi-finals of the two knockout competitions - and face a Hampshire Cup showdown against Havant on Sunday.

But they may have a Saturday night hangover or two to cure before taking on Havant, currently fourth in EHA Premier Division 3.

A win against London Wayfarers - whose ground lies a six-hit away from the Kennington Oval - will clinch the Regional League championship.

An 8-0 demolition of Southampton - in which Paul Hilton scored five times - enabled Trojans to get the celebratory champagne iced and ready.

Southampton, who must beat Old Whitgiftians at the Sports Centre (1.30) to stave off relegation, were never really in the game.

While Hilton bagged a nap hand, Colin French, Chris Wiseman and Craig Sommerville all got on the scoresheet as Trojans gave their goal difference of 74 a timely boost.

"I have to take my hat off to the Southampton keeper. He played an absolute blinder," praised Trojans coach Lindsay Hilton.

Hamble watched the one-sided affair from the touchline, having experienced a frustrating day out in Croydon - only to find Old Whitgiftians had failed to book the Whitgift School pitch!

With Epsom winning 5-3 at Old Kingstonians, Hamble drop to third place. But the match at OWs is certain to be re-arranged immediately after Easter.

Trojans are also on the brink of glory in the EHA Harrod Trophy - a nation alcompetition for clubs of regional Premier League standing and below.

They came from behind to win 4-1 at Kent/Sussex Regional League club BBHC (Beckenham), with Wayne Shepherd, Paul Hilton, Colin French and Simon Lucas scoring in the second half.

Trojans are drawn awayto Staines - 4-3 winners at Hamble - in the semi-finals on Sunday, April 3.

Slough entertain Mansfield in the other tie.

But it's this Sunday's Hampshire Knockout semi-final against Havant at Stoneham Lane (1.30) that has got to pulses racing at Trojans.

"It's got all the makings of a cracker," Hilton said.

"My son, Paul, Pete Wiles and Richard Newnham are all ex-Havant players, so they can expect a pretty hot reception."
