PHOTOGRAPHS taken before and after work was carried out show the transformation of a 1960s bungalow into a luxury family home.
Businessman Ernie Phelps, who is the managing director of a security company, bought the bungalow - in Kempshott Lane, Basingstoke - in 2002 to use as offices for his firm, but has since moved his base to South Ham.
With experience in the building trade as well as the security business, Mr Phelps decided to remodel the property and create an upmarket chalet-style home.
He said: "This is a complete modernisation. It now has about 2,500sqft of accommodation and a simply-landscaped garden for ease of maintenance."
When Mr Phelps bought the bungalow through estate agents Simmons and Sons, the single-storey accommodation comprised of a reception room, kitchen, three bedrooms and a bathroom.
Today, as it markets at £424,950, once again through Simmons and Sons, the only recognisable feature of the original bungalow is the attached garage.
The chalet-style home has a gabled entrance porch and four reception areas.
There is a family room, a study and a dining room, as well as a lounge at the back, which stretches the complete width of the property and has French doors to the garden.
Beech-fronted Shaker-style units have been fitted in the kitchen of the home and form a breakfast bar.
The appliances are an oven, hob, fridge freezer and dishwasher.
By extending the original bungalow upwards, the new house now has four bedrooms, two en suites and a family bathroom upstairs, plus the advantage of a ground-floor cloakroom.
