POLICE are hunting three attackers who left two men needing hospital treatment for cuts and facial injuries.
The two victims, from Alton, were attacked while on a night out in Winchester on Friday.
The pair were approached by three men in the Silver Hill area of the city centre in the early hours of Saturday, and were assaulted in an apparently unprovoked attack.
One of the victims, aged 28, was taken to the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Romsey Road suffering from a suspected fractured cheek bone, cuts and bruises.
The second victim, aged 29, was also treated at the RHCH and had five stitches to a face cut.
The offenders are believed to have made off up the High Street and police are appealling for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.
PC Jon Duggan said: "I would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the attack and may have seen something important."
Police are still trying to piece together descriptions of the attackers.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC Duggan at Winchester Police Station on 0845 045 45 45 or call the anonymously on the Crimestoppers line, 0800 555 111.
