MOTOROLA has come forward as the latest sponsor for the A Place to be Proud of Awards.
The communications giant is sponsoring the Safe Community category of this year's awards.
Motorola has three different businesses operating in Basingstoke - the mobile phone business, the network business and the Government and Enterprise Mobility Solutions business.
John Doughty, vice president and director of government and enterprise mobility solutions for Motorola in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said: "We are delighted to be involved in sponsoring the award for Safe Community as part of the A Place to be Proud of Awards for 2005.
"Motorola has been associated with Basingstoke for more than 25 years and this is another way for us to show our commitment to the town."
The 2004-2005 awards are being organised by the same team as last year's inaugural event - Gazette Newspapers, Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, Festival Place and the Local Strategic Partnership.
The event will culminate in an awards ceremony on Tuesday, June 7, in Festival Place.
Now all the categories have sponsors, it's time to start sending in entries to nominate potential winners.
For more information and details on how to nominate individuals or groups, and who is eligible, visit the Place to be Proud Of link under the Awards section of this website.
Nominators must fill in an entry form, and submit a statement about what their nominee has done and why they should win.
The closing date for entries is Friday, April 15, and judging will take place in May before the awards in June.
