THE fire service is looking for new retained firefighters to man a New Forest station.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service (HFRS) is running a recruitment campaign from Monday to attract people in the Lyndhurst area.
Steve Pegler, who is responsible for fire stations in the New Forest North area, said the target was to respond to 80 per cent of emergency calls within eight minutes.
"But this becomes an increasing challenge if we don't get enough staff in certain areas to fully crew the fire appliances," he said.
Retained firefighters are expected to attend drill nights once a week for training and receive a retaining fee. They are paid extra for any courses or incidents they attend.
To find out more, visit the fire station on drill nights on Tuesdays, or call Steve Pegler on 023 8028 4251.
