A trainee vet is flying abroad for the first time in a bid to rescue animals in Sri Lanka.
Yozanne Norris, shown on the right of the picture with fellow trainee vet Vicky Crichton and pet Truly, will spend more than two weeks in Negombo helping to care for mistreated and injured animals.
The 23-year-old of Bishop's Waltham, decided to take part in the voluntary work after a leaflet advertising the trip was posted through the door of the surgery where she works in Shedfield.
She said: "I'm really nervous about going but I'm looking forward to it as well. I've never been to an airport or been on a plane. The most I've done is a ferry to the Isle of Wight.
"I wanted to do this because I think it will be a good experience for me. It will help me with my training. I really want to help the animals because I know some of them are being really badly treated."
Yozanne will be travelling with fellow trainee vet Vicky from Brook House vet surgery in Shirley.
