STOCKBRIDGE missed out on a game on Saturday, when a burst pipe in the tea-hut rendered the Rec unplayable - and they fared little better on Wednesday night, when their game against Horndean was abandoned due to floodlight failure!

Frustratingly, just moments after the referee abandoned the game the lights came back on, but the damage was done and the clubs will have to wait to see what the league decides to do.

It was a fine free-flowing game which opened brightly with both keepers, Alan Ralph and Paul Gosling, brought into early action.

But it was Stocks who were gifted the lead on 20 minutes when Glen Ingram needlessly handled a harmless ball in the area and Paul Copping tucked away the penalty.

After the break the visitors drew level, also from the spot, after Dean Savage tripped the awkward James Searle. Paul Baker did the honours.

Ryan Boare set up Copping with some fine skill soon afterwards, but he skied his shot. Within seconds Horndean had also missed a golden chance when Steve Tee put a free header wide from close range.

But two minutes later his side went ahead when Tom Woodward hammered home from 20 yards.

Stocks were not to be outdone, and three minutes later Boare latched on to a long ball. His lightning pace took him clear to bury the equaliser past Gosling.

With a tense climax brewing, the lights failed - and now the two sides may have to do it all again!
