Hambledon a hotbed for aspiring gymnasts
ONLY two of the young gymnasts entered for Hampshire county grades achieved distinction status on Sunday 26th February in Basingstoke - and both girls are from Hambledon.
Alice Daber, 8 years old, won the gold medal, while Ville Gymnastics Club team-mate Danielle Hutchinson-Gates (7 years old) struck silver.
The two Hambledon girls were the only two gymnasts entered by club, and were competing against other gymnasts aged up to twelve years old.
They both now go through to the regional finals in Windsor on April 17th.
Alice, a pupil at Kings Court School, Catherington, and Danielle, who attends Droxford Junior, were the only girls in the competition to get distinctions in final marking - beating 43 other competitors.
Their success is a real feather in the cap for head coach Tina Field.
