MIKE SMITH'S Hordle Lakes were in top form for the first round of The Nigel Turner/ AWD Wealth Management Series.

Poingdestres' Pete Newman spent the first three hours fishless until the wind changed direction and then finished with 86lb 8oz of carp to 7lb from the Monk peg on Long Lake.

Dynamite Baits' Dave Hambidge, also pegged on Long Lake, also caught late to land 69lb 9oz of carp for second with Kings Toyotas third with 67lb 4oz.

Martin Flack, pictured, won a low-scoring affair on Nutsey Lake in the TVAC and Southampton Piscatorial club match. Flack needed just 4lb 9oz of roach on the waggler and maggot to get the better of Ted Rose with 2lb 14oz of roach on the waggler with Andy Palmer third with 2lb 11oz and Garry Duncan fourth with 2lb 6oz.

l TVAC and Southampton Piscatorial took on Basingstoke and Sainsbury AC in The Van Den Eynde Super Cup on Embley and despite the visitors taking three out of the top four places the home side came through by 75 points to 61.

Rod Gillett (Basingstoke) took four bream for 9lb 10oz from the shallows on the feeder. TVAC match secretary Cliff Carbis finished second with three bream for 8lb on the waggler with Bill Gordon third with 6lb 14oz and Colin Thomas fourth on 5lb 10oz.

Salmon Leap AC held a club match on Longbridge Lake which saw Terry Randall take 32lb 10oz of skimmers on a mixture of pole and waggler tactics from peg 24.

Ian Elcock finished second with 24lb 12oz from peg 28 which included a 10lb carp on the method feeder.

Simon Bull finished third with 23lb 2oz from peg 14 of skimmers, bream and tench on the feeder and maggot.
