Sir.-I am 85 years old, and my wife is 83, and we both swim three times a week for health reasons.
I am registered disabled but mobility is not affected.
However, my wife is disabled and has been granted a disabled person's badge for our car and it is a very great benefit to her.
I would like to draw readers' attention to a problem we have when trying to park outside the Aquadrome at Basingstoke Leisure Park.
We have found, on numerous occasions, that the disabled parking spaces are occupied by people attending Planet Ice - and the majority of these people do not display disabled badges.
This means that disabled people have to park in the lower parking spaces, resulting in them having to climb quite steep slopes, which, in our case, causes considerable discomfort.
I have pointed out the problem to the management at the Aquadrome - but still these people continue to use the disabled parking spaces.
The motorists concerned can only be described as disinterested, selfish and a very bad example to the children they bring to the leisure park.
Recently, the council erected quite distinctive notices - but to no avail.
