A RECORD entry of more than 900 runners made the 23rd Winchester 10k road race one of the best yet.
Last Sunday's event - which was supported by the Hampshire Chronicle - attracted a competitive field from all over the South, including as far away as Amsterdam.
The mayor of Winchester, Cllr Cecily Sutton, got things off to a flying start from Jewry Street, and the race was won by James Baker, of Chichester Runners & AC, in 32 mins 51secs. Second was Mark Hargreaves, of Bournemouth AC, in 33mins, with Matthew King, of Winchester & District AC third, in a time of 33.06.
