A GROUP dedicated to bringing storytelling to life and resurrecting tales about Winchester from long ago has proved a success.
The Winchester Bardic Circle was formed three years ago to try to re-ignite the ancient tradition of storytelling, whether through dance, song, poetry or prose.
Describing why the Bardic Circle was reconvened, current bard 24-year-old Mathew Feldwick, pictured, said: "It's done to regain interest in the old stories of the area and storytelling, particularly the oral tradition where stories are passed from person to person.''
Mathew, who works at University College Winchester, added: "These bardic traditions go back a long way."
Mathew's last meeting as The Bard of Winchester will take place on Tuesday, March 15 at 7.30pm when members will choose their new bard for the forthcoming year.
