Saints gave themselves a massive boost in their battle for survival with a 1-0 win against Tottenham.
The victory was only their fourth in the Premiership all season and like the previous three, came at St Mary's.
Nigel Quashie scored the decisive goal with a 50th-minute header after Mikael
Nilsson's pin-point cross with his first touch after coming on as a sub.
Paul Smith was also a key man as he pulled off a string of fantastic saves to keep his side alive.
Jermain Defoe saw effort after effort stopped by Smith, while Smith also denied a string of other Spurs players.
Saints endured a nervy last half hour to the match but clung on for what could prove to be a vital three points in their battle against the drop.
