Winchester & District's athletes are revving up nicely for the new track and field season.
While Louis Sellers, pictured, took silver in the AAA Indoor Under-20 Championships in Birmingham, clubmate Kieran Showler-Davis has been officially credited with two UK under-13 all-time age records for last season.
Showler-Davis started off 2004 by clocking 8.04 seconds for 60m indoors, but the highlight was a winning 5.71m leap in the Southern Inter-Counties Championships, eclipsing the previous UK best by six centimetres.
Sellers was involved in arguably the most dramatic race of the Under-20 Championship when he closed to within one-hundredth of a second behind long-striding Welsh champion Bruce Tasker, who took gold in 48.86.
Sellers (48.87) had been fourth after the first lap, but moved steadily through the field to reel in Tasker on the final bend. His late burst brought him level on the line, but the photo finish gave the verdict to the Welshman.
