HAMPSHIRE police have found a missing Southampton psychiatric patient more than a week after he went on the run.
Faysal Diiriye, 32, pictured, was located safe and well in London yesterday after going missing from the care of the department of psychiatry at the Royal South Hants Hospital, Southampton.
As reported in later editions of yesterday's Daily Echo, detectives had extended their search to the capital. After liaising with colleagues in the Metropolitan police force, officers from Bitterne CID travelled to London where they found Mr Diiriye.
Police said the Portswood resident appeared to be in good health and was yesterday returned to the psychiatric unit where he had been undergoing assessment for mental health problems.
Mr Diiriye was reported missing by the department on February 23 after he ran away from a member of staff while on escorted leave.
The police later made a public appeal for help in locating him, describing him as a potential danger to himself and others.
