FINANCIAL services giant Skandia, which employs 1,500 people at its UK headquarters here in Southampton, racked up an enviable set of results for last year.
It saw a 43 per cent rise in year-on-year sales, while the share of the independent financial advisors market nearly doubled.
Skandia, which set up shop in Southampton in 1979, also saw assets under management rise to a record £20 billion, with new business totalling £515m.
The company, which sponsors the world-famous Cowes Week sailing regatta, is now regarded as the fastest growing life company in the UK for both new sales and asset accumulation.
UK group managing director Nick Poyntz-Wright, based in Southampton, pointed to greater investor confidence, adding: "We are strongly positioned for the future which we face with confidence."
Skandia UK, which is independent of its Swedish parent, provides pensions, investment and protection products through intermediaries in the UK and overseas.
