POP-punk band Freefaller have exploded on to the UK music scene after a helping hand from a digital marketing agency in Hampshire.

Lawton eMarketing is the driving force behind an online publicity campaign that helped the band's single, Do this! Do That!, to reach number 8 in the UK singles chart.

Staff designed the band's lively website, www.freefaller.co.uk, offering fans audio and video downloads, news, galleries and fan forums.

It also featured a competition on Mykindaplace.com, a cyberspace magazine for teenage girls, which raised awareness of the band and built up registration to the Freefaller database.

Mark Cox, of Lawton eMarketing, said: "Fans can interact with all of the band members, creating a high-level interactive experience."

Lawton eMarketing is an arm of Lawton Communications Group, which employs more than 100 people at Grosvenor Place, Southampton.

Freefaller, consisting of vocalist Ollie, lead guitarist Dean, bass guitarist Gary and drummer Richard, play a special gig this Sunday in Southampton as part of the razzmatazz surrounding the charity premiere of cinema blockbuster Robots.

The showing, in aid of city-based blood cancer research charity Leukaemia Busters, takes place at LeisureWorld's Odeon, with the band playing at the pre-movie party at Jumpin Jaks.
