MOZART Close play area: At the time of writing, it was understood that equipment for the new play area was due to arrive on site this week.

I hope people will be pleased to hear the news.

CHOPIN Road: Environmental improvements are expected to begin in about a month, when tenders have been received and the preferred one accepted.

Improvements will include railings near the steps, fencing at the bottom of the slope and grass planting. Plan A was the one most people preferred.

ASDA: Events co-ordinator Sam Hutchins is appealing to customers to support the Riding for the Disabled Dummer group.

Last year, one of the horses working with the group died and must be replaced.

Help is needed by the group to raise finds to enable another horse to be purchased.

ASDA has pledged £250 towards the cost of purchasing a new horse, or pony, which is expected to be more than £1,000.

Please help by placing donations in the black buckets, to be found beside the checkouts in the store.

The buckets are clearly labelled and can be seen as you pick up your shopping and walk towards the main doors to leave the shop.

VIABLES: Committee members met on February 15 to hear the good news that Valentine celebrations on the previous Sunday were very successful.

A total of £330 was raised as a result of the tea dance and barn dance, much enjoyed by many nimble-footed dancers.

Of the above amount, approximately £150 was profit for Viables Community Association.

At the meeting, members were considering future events, including a quiz night in March. More news will be given later.
