Fife Flyers 4, Basingstoke Bison 6

BRITISH defenceman Ricky Skene scored his first goal of the season as the Bison came from behind to beat the Fife Flyers 6-4 on Saturday night.

The victory completed a 100 per cent record in Scotland for the Herd during this campaign, following on from successes in Dundee and Edinburgh.

The game got off to a good start for the visitors as Steve Gallace slotted home in the sixth minute.

The home side then hit back as goals from Paul Spadafore and Kent Davyduke gave the Flyers a 2-1 lead at the first break.

The second session did not start well for the visitors as Adrian Saul added a third Fife goal, before the Herd closed the gap as Jason Norrie slotted home Jeff Ewasko's pass.

However, by the end of the second session, the Flyers had extended their lead as Todd Dutiaume netted to give them a 4-2 lead.

The final period belonged to the visitors as they scored four unanswered goals with captain Shawn Maltby converting before Ricky Skene, with his first Bison strike, tied the game at 46:31.

This was disputed by the visitors and comments by Davyduke earned him a 10-minute misconduct penalty.

The Bison then made it 5-4 seven minutes later as Doug Sheppard netted from Mike Ford.

In the final minute the Flyers, looking for an equaliser, pulled their netminder Steve Briere, but the move backfired as Gallace fired into the empty net with 31 seconds left in the game.
