AFTER two years in the wilderness, the Ropley 10k Road Race will be reborn at 11 am on Sunday, May 29 (Bank Holiday weekend).
Between them Southampton Running Club and the Hursley Hash House Harriers are taking over where the Wessex Road Runners left off. To make the event a success, the organisers are trying to drum up as much interest as possible among serious athletes and fun runners alike.
Ropley is on the A31 between Winchester and Alton in the heart of Hampshire's rolling countryside and, as race organiser Chris Bellwood pointed out: "A word of caution for the super fast runners - this course is not flat!
"There are three inclines, two of which are quite extreme."
A course profile and map will be on display at the registration point in the local village hall where there will be plenty of nearby car parking available. Then it's a short walk up to St Peter's Church, where the race will start.
Thanks go to Southampton RC, Saucony UK and Just Run Ltd for their support in helping keep another 10k alive.
Entry forms and further details are available from the race organiser at 75 Desborough Road, Eastleigh, Hants. SO50 5NT or mudlark@worthy3.com or 07765 855 118.
