GOLDEN couple Betty and George Shelley returned to Andover a few weeks before their wedding anniversary to catch up with friends and family.
They married in Southwark London in March 1955 but came to Andover in 1966 where George worked for Taskers as a sprayer and Betty served dinners to thousands of Andover children as a cook over a 25 year period at three local schools.
"We met when I was 13 and Betty was 11 and were friends because our fathers worked together," said George.
Betty loved her years in Andover. She had a new home in Cricketers Way after her old home in London, was pulled down.
In Andover the couple bought up four children, David, Jacqueline, Susan and Brian and they now have nine grandchildren.
