A CLEANING hit squad is preparing to swing into action to spruce up Southampton General Hospital.
Every visitor to the hospital on Monday will be given a bright pink card bearing the words "Spot where we're not up to scratch" and asked to report anything they see that needs cleaning or repairing.
Cleaning team members will then leap into action.
The report cards are part of a package of activities to mark National Think Clean Day and Think Clean Week.
Other plans include encouraging staff to use hand cleansing gel between seeing patients, checking and cleaning ward equipment, a makeover of the hospital's front entrance and cleaning of hospital wheelchairs.
Also, staff will be taking down unwanted signs and promoting good infection control practice.
Senior nurses will spend at least part of Think Clean Day back on the floor to make sure the message is getting through.
Managers from the hospital's cleaning contractor will do the same later in the week.
