THE MILTON ABBAS mirror carp record has been shattered by Houdini at a massive 38lb 9oz - some 3lb 3oz up on the previous best.

Up and coming Dorset angler Chris Gillett, a fishery management student at Sparsholt College, took the mighty mirror that is another fish from John Patons famous Fishers Pond strain.

Houdini started life in June 1996 at Fishers Pond and moved to Milton in October 1999 weighing 16lb. With the fish not nine years old until June, Houdini has the makings of going on to be one of the country's largest carp.

Gillett also took another mirror of 25lb in the same session and Gillett is almost certain to win the February CC Moores mirror of the month.

Lee Hankins took a 17lb 8oz common on the same venue, while Andy Parker took fish of 19lb 8oz and 21lb 2oz.
