CLAUS LUNDEKVAM admitted Saints were left ruing missed chances after dominating much of last night's entertaining goalless draw with West Brom.

Victory would have lifted Saints out of the bottom three for the first time since November, but it was not to be as Henri Camara and David Prutton missed excellent chances in the second period.

Lundekvam said: "Apart from ten or 15 minutes in the first-half, we dominated the game.

"In the second-half we had enough chances to win two or three games. We are disappointed not to take all three points.

"People miss chances, you can't blame anyone. We will just take the positives and hopefully turn it around next week.

"We were on top in the whole of the second-half and had enough chances to score three or four goals.

"It's a bit disappointing, but it's gone now and we have to look forward.

"We are pleased with the performance but not the result.

"I felt it was there for us to take and it's a bit annoying not to take all three points."

Saints, though, could take heart from a much improved defensive display and a clean sheet.

Boss Harry Redknapp brought 32-year-old Swede Andreas Jakobsson back into the heart of defence alongside Lundekvam.

Jakobsson had previously been dropped for on-loan Tottenham youngster Calum Davenport following the 2-1 defeat at Manchester City on New Year's Day.

But last night, Redknapp opted to name Davenport among the substitutes.

Lundekvam said: "We kept a clean sheet, we looked solid and didn't look like conceding which is very good.

"We have to take that with us and hopefully we can continue that.

"We were strong in two banks of four, we were pretty hard to break down.

"We picked up so many second balls in midfield and that makes a big, big difference.

"Andreas has played very well, he is very experienced, he had a good game and it worked well between us.

"We were both solid and dominant and it worked out quite nicely."
