ARMY professional Graham Cowley and his amateur partner Henry Jones won the Hampshire Alliance's 28-hole Smith Salver on a Hayling course in wonderful condition despite the rigours of winter.
The greens were particularly impressive and Cowley and Jones took advantage, posting a seven under par morning round of 64 then bettering par again for a 37 second time out.
They were run close, though, by Rob Edwards (Lee-on-the-Solent) and Neil Stephenson (Swanmore), who finished just one shot behind (68 34) with Chris Hudson (Southwood) and Bob Lucas (Rowlands Castle) in third place.
The all amateur section was won by Howard Brace (Royal Winchester) and Brian Young (Alresford) with 107 (68 39).
