OFF-roaders who have been driving around a Monxton farmer's field illegally have been warned their activities will land them in trouble if and when they are caught.
Farmer Ken Hopkins of Manor Farm says the irresponsible and unthinking fun seekers are not only causing damage to the field but threatening wildlife because the area has been declared 'set aside'.
Ground nesting birds such as lapwing, which may favour the area for nesting, could be forced off if the damage and disturbance continues as the breeding season is approaching.
Mr Hopkins said it's the first time in 14 years he has had any such problems.
"We have informed the police about what has been happening and they will be keeping a look out for anybody driving in this field illegally," said Mr Hopkins who is very concerned about what has been happening - usually at weekends.
"We let people walk on it and ride horses on it but not vehicles which will cause a lot of damage in just 15 or 20 minutes."
