Whitchurch United 2 Overton United 1 aet North Hants Senior Cup quarter-final
Whitchurch United and Overton United served up a banquet on Wednesday, the like of which is rarely seen nowadays in local football.
The North Hants Senior Cup quarter-final kicked off at 7.45pm and eventually concluded just before 10.30pm with the 200+ crowd drained emotionally and half the players in the referee's notebook.
The tone was set within 20 seconds as a thundering challenge right in front of the stand ended with Church's Chris Iddles limping away and although he continued, within minutes he was substituted. But it did not seem to upset the home side as moments later James Scrivens latched on to a sweet cross field pass and hooked a volley over Neil Butler for the opening goal.
