OBJECTION: At last Monday's meeting of Ellisfield's parish council, the planning application for the demolition of Wyckens and its replacement with a much larger house was fully discussed.
It was unanimously agreed that an objection should be sent to the borough planning office.
Concerns included size (an increase of more than 350 per cent in floor area), appearance (too many worries to repeat here) and the proposed removal of a hedge to create a wider driveway entrance.
The objection will include a number of references to guidelines set out in Ellisfield's village design statement.
PRAISE: At the same meeting, councillors praised the presentation of the planning application for the new house proposed for The Rest site.
They were appreciative that the applicant had obviously made a great effort to ensure that the design was sympathetic to the site and the locality.
ELECTORAL roll: If you have recently moved into the village, don't forget to register.
It's important, not just for the possible March 31 parish council election, but there may be a bigger election coming up a month or so later.
PLAN: Fairly soon, a leaflet will be delivered to every house explaining the South East Plan and asking for your views.
The number of new houses proposed over the next 20 years within the Basingstoke and Deane area is of great concern to many.
Details will be given in an upcoming parish council newsletter.
FINALLY: Contact me with any news on the number above.
