MEMBERS of the Inner Wheel Club of Southampton got packing to aid the survivors of the Asian tsunami.

The charitable women's organisation purchased two Aquaboxes, which they filled with hardware, hygiene items and educational material.

The boxes, which cost £45 each, also contain filter cartridges and water-purification tablets and once emptied the box can be used to purify up to 1,100 litres of polluted water - enough for four people for four months.

Club president Merle Ball, from Calmore, pictured above with Jane Strother, said: "Everyone was so affected by the images of what happened that we wanted to do our bit to help."
