ANDY Jenkins was beaten 2-0 by Andy Smith in the final of the Budweiser UK Open south-west regional final at the Golden Lion.
In an event where 167 players took part, Jenkins eased past Colin Osborne in the last eight before beating Denis Ovens 2-1 in the semis after losing the opening set 3-2.
Roland Scholten breezed past Darryl Fitton 5-1 to win his semi-final place. And Andy Smith beat Mark Thomson, formerly of Cosham but now of Swindon, 5-3.
Scholten lost the first set of his semi-final 3-2 but levelled with a 3-0 win. Smith, though, was not to be denied.
Jenkins had reached the last eight, supported by plenty of Gosport voices, with a typically belligerent win against Jimmy Mann.
Mann had stunned Jenkins by taking a 3-0 lead, including a 148 checkout in the second leg of the best-of-nine match.
But Jenkins, angry with himself at missing some shots, blasted back to take the next five legs in a row.
James Wade went out in the last eight at the Golden Hind to Terry Jenkins after previously beating well-known pair Chris Mason and Dennis Priestley.
Meanwhile, at Gosport, Ian Eames went down 5-0 to Colin Monk, who in turn lost to Bob Crawley in the next round.
Scholten beat Crawley 5-1 to reach the quarter-finals.
