THE Southampton Jazz Club has scooped something of a coup with it latest concert, a performance by the world famous John Etheridge's Sweet Chorus.
John is one of the country's unsung musical hero's having played with the likes of jazz giants like Soft Machine and Stephane Grapelli. He formed John Etheridge's Sweet Chorus four years ago and since then the band have toured extensivily around the UK.
Their second studio album, Chasing Shadows, was hailed by critics as an outstanding collection of songs, and was even awarded the prestigious CD of the Week gong by The Guardian.
John's band includes Christian Garrick, undoubtedly one of the country's finest jazz violinist, rhythm guitarist Dave Kelbie and bassist Andy Crowdy.
