TOTTON schoolchildren turned the clock back more than 100 years to sample life in a Victorian classroom.
Pupils at Hazel Wood Infant School dressed in period costume and experienced the type of lessons and discipline seen in the late 19th century.
Teachers at the school used a dunce's cap and the threat of the cane to help create the right atmosphere.
A school spokesman said: "Pupils took part in daily drill, recited poetry and chanted the alphabet and times tables.
"Everyone involved entered into the spirit of the occasion and learned a great deal through the creative use of drama and role play."
