BOROUGH councillors are set to splash out £3million on upgrading facilities at Romsey Rapids.
Members of the cabinet have agreed funding but the final decision lies with the full council and members are expected to make their views known on February 25th.
It is planned to refurbish the pools and changing rooms. New dryside facilities are also included in the project along with the upgrading of the sauna and steam room. A new creche and children's soft play area are also proposed for the Southampton Road site, which opened in 1990.
Boss of Valley Leisure, which operates Romsey Rapids, Sheridan Easton, said: "This very exciting news. I am looking forward to getting on with the work. We hope to start in April and get it finished by the end of the year. We have put a lot into facilities at Andover and now it's Romsey's turn."
More detailed news about the project will be carried by The Romsey Advertiser shortly.
