TONY HILL will be gunning for his first major senior boxing title tonight when he takes on Paul Molbey for the Southern Counties ABA crown.

The former British and junior Olympic champion overcame an injury to his left thumb last week to make it through to the finals in Folkestone.

He avenged an earlier defeat against Crawley's Anthony Young before jabbing his way to a points win against Matthew Twyman.

Hill, pictured, will be joined in tonight's final by Golden Ring teammate Shane Watson.

He stopped Portsmouth's Ashley Leigh in the second round with some fine combination punching.

Watson then almost stopped John Berry in the semi-final with some excellent left-hooks, eventually settling for a comfortable points win.

He will now meet Leigh's brother Josh in tonight's final.

Golden Ring's Jason Rogers, however, lost out to Portsmouth's Bradley Madgwick following a controversial points decision.

At a separate show, Josh Bowers made it 11 wins in a row with an impressive points win over Scott Wilson.

Bowers and teammate Iain Weaver will box tomorrow in the Southern Counties Golden Gloves final in Lightwater. Golden Ring's Tommy Watson made it six wins out of seven, beating Luke John with a third-round stoppage.

Mitchell Whitehead also continued his good form with a hugely impressive one-round win against James Wilson at West Ham.

Whitehead connected with a powerful straight right that rocked Wilson, who retired at the end of the round blaming an injured shoulder.
