A new table tennis club has been formed in Winchester and is looking for members. The multi table Kings Table Tennis Club (KTTC) will be based in the sports hall at Kings School.
It's down to a lot of hard work by the Winchester League's development officer Mick Bryant, who becomes President, and the rest of the new club's committee.
They obtained a Lottery start-up grant of £4,700 which has enabled them to buy four wheelchair-friendly tables and other necessary equipment.
Unlike many clubs, the equipment can be stored on site and pupils at Kings School will have use of it when required. The new club has qualified coaches and had its first training session on Tuesday night.
Weekly practice meetings will be held every Tuesday (8pm - 10pm) and on Saturdays (12.30 - 2.30pm).
"We're hoping to attract a number of members as Winchester has been without a club in the town centre until now," said Mick.
"Anyone between the ages of 8 and 80 will be welcome, whether they're beginners ort experienced players. "Hopefully, some of them might want to take coaching qualifications. Our aim is to join the Winchester League in the future."
Anyone interested in more information about joining should contact Mick Bryant on 01962 621988 or Jon Cox on 01962 886702.
