THE intimate setting of the Chesil Theatre is a perfect venue for David Hare's play.
The three actors were able to make the action seem normal without recourse to the exaggerated gestures sometimes demanded by a larger stage.
The action takes place over a few hours and concerns an adulterous affair, the death of a wife and the effect of both on a son. The main couple - an older man and younger woman - are able to talk out their erstwhile relationship against the background of issues concerning social and political topics.
Katy Watkins (Kyra) and Brian Fullaway (Tom) are entirely believable in their pivotal roles that require a range of emotions.
James Gaynor (Edward) adds just the right touch of innocence. Director Noel Thorpe-Tracey has achieved a good balance of humour and drama.
Runs till Saturday.
