TROJANS and Hamble rattled in 31 goals between them as they marched to combined success in the Hampshire/Surrey Regional League and in the EHA Harrod UK Trophy third round.

The pair remain in the thick of the championship race after Trojans whipped Old Whitgiftians 8-1 and Hamble saw off London Wayfarers 6-4. And they both have home ties in the last 16 of the Harrod Trophy after Trojans thumped Wokingham 7-1 and Hamble cleaned up Colchester 10-4 in one-sided third round ties.

Trojans will host Midlanders Finchfield and Hamble entertain Telford & Shiftnal on February 27.

A goal up in just 50 seconds through Colin French, Trojans won 8-1 in Croydon, with Dave Cheeseman celebrating his first hat-trick.

Wayne Shepherd potted a hat-trick of penalty corners, with Scott Spiegal toasting his senior debut with a strike.

Hamble had the points in the bag when they moved into a 3-0 lead against London Wayfarers - Hamoza (2) and Paul Barber scoring - but the city side hit back before Ezz (2) and Duncan Marsh made it six.

Wayfarers went down fighting, however, and clawed the deficit back to 6-4.

Paul Hilton scored four times as Trojans thumped Trophy rivals Wokingham, while Hamble scored five times in six dazzling second-half minutes to turn a 3-3 half-time score against Colchester into a 10-3 rout.

Steve Barber scored four times for Hamble, including two first-half equalisers.

Fareham coach Nigel Cook thought he was still on the alpine ski slopes as he watched his side slump to a disappointing 6-5 defeat by Maidenhead.

"It was just like my skiing - out of control," he said.
