LAST year was the best on record for Waterside Sports Aerobics Club.
The club won the British Gymnastics' Club of the Year in one section, finished runners-up in another and stashed away a glittering haul of more than 50 medals.
Now they have something else to celebrate.
Two of their medal winners, 18-year-old Katie Price and 16-year-old Vicky Smith, have been selected to join the Great Britain squad in Holland next month to compete in the Dutch Open Championships.
What's more the Waterside dance team, having won gold in every competition last year, have been invited into the Demo Danceteams competition thanks to the efforts of Roxanne Stephens (coach), Keri Feeney (17), Alex Theoharis (17), Becky Goodyer (16), Chloe Foot (15), Donna Vincent-Bennett (23) and Lisa Prowting (21).
To make the most of these opportunities the girls need help.
Waterside Gymnastics Club is a registered charity and, with British Gymnastics unable to offer any funding, they need to raise £2,500.
The club's annual gala has knocked £650 off that total and Waterside are planning a lottery style competition, a sponsored silence, and are busy writing to local businesses asking for donations/sponsorship or prizes for their raffle.
If anyone can offer more help please phone coach Roxanne Stephens on 07817 081481.
Any cash donation or prize, however small, will be very gratefully received.
