IF you think a business needs to improve its deaf awareness and learn about the Disability Discrimination Act why not give them a helping hand?
RNID, which is the largest charity representing nine million deaf and hard of hearing people in the UK, is distributing DDA business cards for deaf and hard of hearing customers to hand out to those businesses they feel need a helping hand adjusting to their new duties.
More than 340,000 cards have been distributed so far to RNID members, advising on simple deaf awareness techniques as well as directing businesses to free RNID information on how to comply with the DDA.
You can use them when:
Staff in a shop or at a public service, such as a library, are not deaf aware.
You think you have been discriminated against by a business because of your hearing loss.
A limited number of RNID DDA business cards are available free of charge by calling RNID Information Line on 0808 808 0123 Textphone 0808 808 9000 or e-mail informationline@rnid.org.uk.
For free information visit the section about DDA on RNID's website www.rnid.org.uk.
