MUSEUM Road Show: A bean slicer, Lux soap flakes, a couple of old Victorian lemonade bottles and some headphones that look more like instruments of torture were all on display in the garden room at the village hall last week as part of the Museum Road Show.

There was also an old Enigma roll film camera, some Roman pottery and a section of a Triang Railway set (1960-70s).

There were leaflets covering museums and places of interest in Hampshire and in our immediate area. Milestones, The Willis Museum and Basing House are all well worth a visit.

SUMMER fete: Plans are beginning to come together for the village fete.

This year it is on Saturday, June 11, and the funds are going to the church spire and two other charities.

Sandy Johnston said: "We've got a few new ideas for this year. More will be revealed after the February meeting."

The next meeting of the fete committee is on Monday, February 21, at 7.30pm, in the garden room.

COMMUNITY centre: A new community centre is to be built at Taylor's Farm.

You will have a chance to have your say on the building, design, elevation, what sort of activities will take place in the centre and also its management.

Meet members of the council tomorrow, at Taylor's Farm, from 10am to noon, or at the village hall on Monday, from 7pm to 9pm.

Also, check out www.basingstoke.gov.uk for more information.

PHONE box removal: The saga continues.

I'm trying to find out if it was stolen or removed by BT in error.

The workmen I saw taking it away in December certainly looked convincing.
