SURGERY: If you have managed to keep fit and healthy over the past few weeks, and have not had to visit the local surgery, you may not be aware of some important changes.

From February 1, the surgery car park will be reserved for doctors and staff only.

If you do need to drive to the surgery, then don't forget to park in the pay and display car park - and also remember to bring enough change for the machine.

If you are walking or cycling to the surgery, then access is still available from Elms Road via the new gate.

GIRLS: For those young girls in Hook who aren't necessarily interested in joining the Girl Guides, you will be pleased to know that girls are now to be admitted into our local Scout group.

After a very special meeting, it was decided that, from February, girls will be able to apply to belong to the Elizabethan Cub Pack and, from September 2006, girls will be allowed to join the Scout troop (assuming that they will have two female Scout leaders in place by then).

For more information about the Scouts, please contact Paul on 762166.

AN INDULGENCE and Revitalising Day: Is being organised in Hook for Saturday, February 12.

As well as being a wonderful opportunity to pamper yourself with a wealth of treatments such as chiropody, hopi ear candles, Indian head massage, manicures, massage, reiki and reflexology, its main aim is to raise funds for the tsunami disaster.

In an aim to raise as much money as possible, local complementary therapists will be giving their free time to offer half-hour treatments for a donation of £15 per treatment.

Appointments will be available from 2pm at 35 Middle Mead.

For details and appointments, please contact Shanagh on 768582.
