SOUTHAMPTON'S Richard Bland had his best result on the European Tour for more than two years in the Heineken Classic in Melbourne, writes ALAN HARVEY.
Bland, who reclaimed his Tour card with a top-15 finish on the Challenge Tour last year, scored a final round three-under par 68 yesterday to clinch tied 11th place, having started the day at five under.
Bland posted scores of 70, 67 and 71 in his first three rounds but Australia's Craig Parry defeated compatriot Nick O'Hern in a thrilling play-off for the title. Parry birdied the fourth extra hole to claim the £156,000 first prize after the duo had finished tied on 14 under par at Royal Melbourne.
