WHITCHURCH Potato Day was a huge success and more than 1,250 people visited Testbourne Community School.
This year's event attracted 25 per cent more people than last year.
Whitchurch Gardens Association and the Friends of Whitchurch Primary School jointly sponsored Hampshire's seventh Potato Day.
There were the usual 129 varieties of seed tubers, talks on potato growing and cooking demonstrations, as well as Whitchurch eating places offering Potato Day menus.
The children chipped in with a competition to keep them entertained.
William Shelley from Hurstbourne Priors won the four and under category, A Head from Basingstoke won the five to eight-year-olds competition and Jessica Arrowsmith from Alresford won the nine to 11-year-old category.
