THE multi-award-winning hit West End comedy Stones In His Pockets comes to The Corn Exchange in Newbury as part of a national tour next Tuesday and Wednesday.
When a major Hollywood film studio descends on a small village in rural Ireland, the demand for extras from the local community is huge.
Two actors, Martin Jenkins and Christopher Patrick Nolan (pictured above), between them bring a whole host of extraordinary characters to life with hilarious results.
All by the flick of a wrist or a simple change of expression, Martin and Christopher deliver a masterclass in comedy acting.
Written by Marie Jones, winner of the Literature Award from the Irish Post, the comedy is set in a village in County Kerry, an area that has been the location for several Hollywood films, most notably John Ford's The Quiet Man, starring John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara.
Marie also won a special Award for her Outstanding Contribution to the Cultural Life of Northern Ireland from Belfast City Council.
Stones in his Pockets has won numerous awards, including The Laurence Olivier Award and The Evening Standard Award for Best Comedy. The production received a Drama Desk Special Award and a Special Achievement Award from the Outer Critics' Circle in New York.
This is the second national tour of the production following its four-year run in London's West End. There has also been a world tour of America, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Austria, Canada, Argentina, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Portugal, Spain, Uruguay, Turkey, Italy and South Africa.
If you loved Father Ted, you'll love Stones in His Pockets!
