TEAM Southampton achieved three top-ten team finishes at the Southern Cross-Country Championships at London's Parliament Hill Fields.
The under-15 boys came home ninth with lead runner Scott Legg again performing well to place 14th individually. The rest of the team found it hard to get through an early bottle-neck of runners but Renato Veraj (67th), Chris Dennis (80th) and Jamie Knapp (84th) made up the four scoring members.
Southampton's under-17 women went one place better in eighth with Sasha Mucci taking 26th place individually and beating some top-class runners in the process. Lucy Bowers was 38th and Sasha's sister Domi 61st, with Carol Thompson completing the team in 67th.
Southampton's best team finish of the day, however, was sixth for the under-17 men. Jon Slade (35th), Russell North (43rd), Olly Williams (74th) and Adam Justice (110th) all performed well over the hilly and very muddy course.
Individually it was another good day for Rebecca Gough. She collected a bronze medal in an under 15-girls' race which was dominated by Hampshire-based runners, who filled five of the top ten places.
Alex Wall-Clarke ran well for 31st in the under-20 men's race and there was another good run from Laura Brenton, who placed 16th in the same age-group for the women.
Other notable runs on the day came from Owen Jones, who was 40th in an 800-plus strong senior men's race, and Martin Nottingham who was 42nd under-13 boy.
