SOUTHAMPTON Running Club's Kaye Harwood led the women's assault on the annual Romsey 5 Road Race which attracted a field of almost 550 runners.
Harwood set a winning time of 29 minutes 27 seconds to finish 25th in the overall standings and her pace was too hot for Team Southampton's Claire Thorne, who placed third woman in 31.10.
Emerging onto Fishlake Meadows, it was Chichester AC's James Baker who set the pace in the men's race - and he was never headed in his run for home, winning in 25 minutes and 41 seconds.
Half a minute behind in 26.10 was Southampton RC's Iain Robertson, who failed to make the previous day's Southern Cross-Country Championships at Parliament Hill when his car broke down.
Both team events were won by Southampton RC with 11 of their 30 runners clocking personal bests.
The Concept Sport organised race enjoyed near perfect weather on a calm, mild morning, which encouraged many good times.
