Eastleigh residents aged 60 or over are being invited to attend a presentation aimed at helping them live a longer and better life.
The council has teamed up with Eastleigh and Test Valley South Primary Care Trust, Eastleigh Community Services, Age Concern, Hampshire Social Services and community groups to draw up an action plan to improve the quality of life for older residents.
The plan, called Live Long and Better, will be launched at Wells Place, Eastleigh, at 2.30pm on Tuesday, February 22.
It will include a presentation providing information about the benefits to older people in the plan and encouraging them to take an interest in how they can contribute to improving services.
The two-hour event will also feature Trickster, a musical play which warns about doorstep dangers for older members of the community.
Eastleigh's executive councillor for social policy, Anne Winstanley, said: "The plan celebrates the fact that we are living longer - there are 22,649 people over 60 living in Eastleigh.
"It is no longer acceptable to see ageing as a problem.
"Some people are dependant on others, but far more are themselves depended upon - as family members, volunteers, carers and contributors to the economy."
Anyone wanting to attend the launch should telephone 01962 846232/846316 to obtain free tickets.
