THE Dave O'Higgins Quintet headline at the Klute in Bournemouth tomorrow.
Presented by the Bourne-mouth Modern Jazz Club, Dave O'Higgins is one of the best young saxophonists around. His quintet have been highly lauded for their recent funk-fuelled albums, Fast Foot Shuffle and Move, which mixes modern jazz with dance-orientated grooves.
O'Higgins' varied talents as soloist and composer have already brought him an amazing CV.
Signed to the prestigious Provocateur label, he has released seven albums under his own name, leading to a string of major jazz awards in the past decade, including Best Tenor at the 2001 British Jazz Awards. He has also played with a veritable who's who of international jazz legends, including Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee, Cleo Laine and Martin Taylor, plus current Brit jazz wunderkind, Jamie Cullum.
